Litigation Consultant, Waste Management Hawaii and Waste Management, Inc., Waimanalo Gulch Sanitary Landfill, HI.
Served as expert witness for Waste Management of Hawaii, Inc. (Defendants) regarding health of coral reefs around a discharge point in criminal matter alleging violations of the Clean Water Act. Provided expertise on the potential and realized environmental impacts of a flood involving the sanitary landfill on the island of Oahu and the potential impacts to the offshore coral reefs. Result: Settlement was reached in favor of the Defendants and all felony counts were dropped.

Served as an expert witness for several non-profit organizations including Surfrider Foundation (Plaintiffs) who sued the city and county of Maui in violations of the Clean Water Act in relation to municipal sewage discharge via underground injection wells on west Maui. I provided expertise on the potential and realized impacts of wastewater on the coral reef communities at Kahekili Beach that were in contact with injected wastewater that was emerging through the reef. Result: Ongoing; Settlement discussion initiated by defendants
